Grilled BBQ Chicken Pizza. First of all, I love BBQ Chicken Pizza! There is something about the combination of sweet, tangy, spicy BBQ sauce with the fresh red onion and melty cheese. Way back when, my grandmother used to get me the BBQ Chicken frozen pizza from Trader Joes. That pizza was my absolute favorite. Maybe it is because after the first time I tried it, she always made sure it was in the freezer for me if she took a trip. Maybe it is because I am just craving BBQ Chicken Pizza. But I couldn’t get the idea out of my head.
Second, grilling this pizza dough is one of the best ideas I have ever had. I will never make homemade pizza any other way in the summer. We (as a society) don’t make pizza at home often enough. I am probably not at liberty to even make a statement like that, but I have decided. Home cooks do not make homemade pizza often enough, even though everyone loves pizza! It’s so simple, but dough can be intimidating. The best part about this grilled pizza: there are no rules. I require no perfect circle, nothing picture perfect. This is a Grilled BBQ Chicken pizza recipe made to look messed up, misshapen and beautifully delicious.
Room temperature, but slightly cold dough, is the easiest to work with. I am going to video how I stretch pizza dough in my stories on Instagram. Make sure to follow me there for tips & videos! Press it out a little on the counter. Pull it up by the edges, and let gravity do the work, walking your hands around the edges. And if you make pizza with family and friends and want to throw it in the air a little – have at it. Just make sure you let me know how it goes!
Two weeks ago I did also did poll over on my Instagram asking how people feel about Ranch on BBQ Chicken Pizza. The results were a resounding love for ranch. I absolutely love the freshness of my buttermilk ranch recipe for drizzling to finish this pizza. Paired with fresh corn. Disclaimer: I am trying my best not to put corn in every one of my summer recipes. But..key word: trying. I absolutely love raw corn & I think it was the perfect addition for sweetness and crunch to this cheesy pizza.
Finally, if you make this pizza, and you try your first pizza on the grill, let me know what you think. What BBQ sauce did you use?! I want to know everything. How was working with the pizza dough? Message me on Instagram, email me or comment below. I cannot wait.

I have been making Italian tomato pie with home made dough, you roast Roma tomatoes and make your own sauce, we love it!
